My Indian squad for T20 2010
Hi! Everybody. Now, I would like to select the Indian squad for T20 2010. I am totally andutterly disappointed with selection committee. It would have been better if the chief selector werevengsarkar. I strongly agree with the comments that former players comment on the selectors. Theysay that selectors are jokers. They follow the Zonal system of selection for selecting the Indiansquad. Good instance for this is, when South Africa came to India recently, Proteas were in an urgency to retain the world no.1 Test spot. India had to be very cautious. But these damn selectors chose a team of which everyone would think Selection panel to be Senseless. Luckily, India won the second test and retained the no.1 Test spot. So please look into my selection.
We must decide on Eight batsman and seven bowlers. But, You know that T20 requirements are always different from the longer versions of the game. For an Ideal T20 team, at least two among the batsman should have the capacity to bowl and Two from bowlers should swing the bat.It gives a greater opportunity for the all-rounders to be selected.
In the batting department, We should got with Sehwag, Gambhir, Raina, Yuvraj, Dhoni, and Uthappa. You have a point to notice here. Selectors picked Dinesh as a reserve wicket-keeper. He is a good player but not a good wicket-keeper. We have often seen him dropping lot of catches. So My point is that why don't you give Uthappa a chance to prove his wicket-keeping abilities. We all know about Uthappa's batting. On his day bats as if sky is his limit(You have seen in T20 2007 and IPL-2010) and I reckon he is a far better T20 player than Dinesh. For the two other batsman to be selected, I feel convenient with Yusuf as he can bowl too. One among Rohit, Pandey, Kohli should be selected this is a dead-heat for me. If you want a backup for the openers Select Pandey, If for the middle order select Rohit or Kohli. I opt for Rohit as he is a useful bowler, brilliant fielder,Match winner and can bat any where down and up the order(in practice matches of T20 2009). He has proven himself in the past. {Not two, three of these batsman can bowl. However, We can rate Yuvi and Yusuf as better bowlers}
Coming to the bowling department, It looks good to go with 4 seamers and 3 spinners. Seamers are Zaheer, Praveen, Irfan and Vinay whereas the spinners are Harbhajan, Jadeja, and Ojha. However, We already have two good leftarm spinners in Jadeja and Yuvraj. So, I think it's better to take another fast bowler like Nehra instead of Ojha so that if any of our pacemen get rattled we can use him. What I want to say is that the 15th man is your's choice but I opt for a fast bowler like Nehra. I back myself for the selection of Vinay, because, he is the top wicket-taker in Indian doemstic cricket two times, out of the last three years. Moreover, He produced some good spells in the IPL2010. As our Previous best fast bowlers like Sree, Ishant , and RP are not in form We certainly have to go with him. I strongly believe that Irfan should be in the side. Because at times he can bat is well. I wonder why an experienced captain like sanga used him for the opening and death overs. I think, he must bowl in between 8-16 overs along with the other spinners that makes some variation. As a good captain, Dhoni knows it. It is exactly what he did in the T20 2007 and succeeded(Man of the match in the final 4-0-3-16). Jadeja is a good one-day player and he brings on lot of variation in his bowling. He can bat is well. But one thing is that he is not holding his nerve. Hope he holds his nerve as he bags some experience. Nehra has proven himself in the past and hope he performs better. {Irfan, Harbhajan, Praveen can chip in with the bat. So Our requirements are satisfied far better.} Hence, The Squad would be
Dhoni(C&W), Sehwag, Gambhir, Yuvraj, Raina,Harbhajan, Zaheer, Praveen, Vinay, Uthappa, Jadeja, Rohit, Nehra, Yusuf, Irfan.
